Famed for the restoration and replication of all types of historic craft, R W Davis & Son Ltd has been building boats at Saul Junction since 1887. Whilst originally established as builders of wooden ships, the company has evolved over the years to include the construction of steel vessels including replica Dutch barges and working narrowboats. R W Davis & Son Ltd specialise in the construction of coastal and inland steel motor barges of any length and beam. We produce a stock replica Dutch Luxemotor style barge design but we also build various styles of barge for both pleasure and commercial use. In 1998 our range of styles of narrowboats was reduced and all narrowboat production was concentrated on our Northwich Trader design. This is a replica of the steel motor boats built by Yarwoods of Northwich in the 1930’s which in our opinion had the finest lines of the working boats produced during that period.
